A Year of the Unexpected

Seeing as it's been pretty much a year since I last posted, I guess I have a lot of catching up to do! I'm just going to make y'all a list and promise to keep it updated much more frequently. =)
  1. I mentioned in an earlier post about how Jacob and I went on a walk to Walmart Thanksgiving weekend 2011 and my knee ended up swelling like a balloon later that evening. I went to the Student Health Center the next week and the doctor told me to ice it and wear my knee brace and that it should take care of it, but if it didn't to go see him again a week later. Well, my knee didn't even come close to getting better -- it got worse. I went back in and he said I would have to get an MRI because he had no idea what was going on. We decided to wait on getting the MRI until we had more cash flow to pay for it and to see if the problem would go away. After my knee getting worse to where I couldn't bend it and I could barely walk, I finally called the doctor in the beginning of March and scheduled an MRI. Not even a week later the doctor called me with the results and told me I had PVNS (Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis) a rare disease with no real cure. He sent me to an Orthopedic Surgeon here in town and I ended up having arthroscopic surgery not even 2 weeks later. It was seriously the scariest thing I have ever done in my entire life and when I finally woke up I was bawling my eyes out and apologizing to the nurses because they had to take care of me.
  2. We took a trip down to Utah the first weekend of April (just a week after my surgery) so Jacob could go to a mission reunion and so that we could see Chuck and the kids. Chuck got tickets to the Saturday morning session of General Conference and had a couple extra so we got to go with them and it was amazing. It was a very nice spur-of-the-moment trip even though I was trying to do it without my pain meds -- which I'm proud to say that I did!
  3. Jacob and I started school back up in April and I got my first taste of working while going to school... Not the easiest thing in the world...
  4. In June we found out that our party of 2 would be growing into a party of 3 and what a surprise that was! =) (More to come about this one)
  5. I graduated BYU-Idaho in July with my Associates Degree in General Studies and Psychology.
  6. The same week I graduated, Jacob quit his job at the call center where we both worked and he started his job on a carpet crew on campus that he enjoys much more.
  7. Since Jacob no longer worked at the call center, in August I was made a supervisor and we were really grateful for it. We were also released from our calling as Nursery Leaders and Jacob became the Assistant Ward Clerk.
  8. In September Jacob went back to school, starting his Senior year, and we found out we were having a boy. Johnathan Lawrence Anderson. =)
  9. In November, Jacob turned 24 and I turned 21. Party! For Thanksgiving we stayed in town so that I could work more hours and I successfully cooked Thanksgiving dinner (Turkey included). Sadly we didn't take any pictures because we are kind of bad at doing that. Haha.
  10. December brought with it the close of another semester, Jacob getting his Associates, and a trip to Oregon for the Holidays and to spend time with family.
  11. The beginning of this year my brother, Nick, moved out here to Rexburg and moved in with us. It is definitely different having another adult living in the apartment and I feel really bad because he has to sleep on the couch since our second bedroom has kind of been taken over with Johnathan's stuff.
  12. Jacob started his internship with the detectives at the Sheriff's Office about 3 weeks ago and has really enjoyed it so far. If you have any other questions about it you really need to ask him because I don't fully understand it all. =P
  13. I officially hit "full-term" on Thursday (37 weeks) and as well it was my last day of work. Not sure if it was my last day ever or just a type of maternity leave... We shall have to wait and see...
Well, there you have it. This is what has happened in the lives of Liz and Jacob (more or less) in the past year. I hope I didn't bore you to tears and I promise that I will update this much more frequently seeing as our lives are about to become a lot less boring this month. =)
Loves!
