Chocolate, Snow, and Nursery...

Chocolate
Can I just say that I love cooking/baking blogs? Because I do! There's this blog (I hate to say this) that I check almost religiously. *insert shameful face here* I know that is horrible of me, but I can't help it! There are just so many delicious things to drool over and just wish you had the motivation to make... Well, this week I came across this recipe for triple chocolate cupcakes--made from scratch might I add. I have never made cupcakes from scratch before and this recipe was just begging me to make it. So, Friday night at like 10 I caved and decided I was going to make these cupcakes even if I had to stay up all night to do so. I made the cupcakes, but sadly we didn't have any liners for the pan and even with spray they stuck to the pan and I had to dig each and every one out. =( However, my husband being the awesome guy he is, kept my spirits high and convinced me to make frosting to frost the scraps of cupcakes I had goin on. So, I made my mom's amazing vanilla butter cream frosting because I didn't have 3 blocks of cream cheese in the fridge and I just really love my mom's frosting. I whipped up the frosting, threw it on a few of the "cupcakes", and fed them to my very supportive hubby... And what do you know?!?! He loved them! I mean, don't get me wrong--you would have to be a crazy person to NOT love my mother's frosting, but I had successfully made cupcakes AND frosting all from scratch! Today (Monday) I decided I was going to make these cupcakes correctly and redeem my pride that had gone out the front door Friday night and I am pretty proud of myself right about now. =)

Snow
This winter has been pretty mild for the area, but Saturday we received some long awaited snow which was pretty awesome. Then today it was snowing again and I decided I need some more experience driving in the snow so I drove to Walmart to get a couple of things, but I felt like it wasn't any different from driving in rain or something of the like... So, tonight we decided I was going to drive around the church parking lot a block away and I was going to do cookies and what not. We (I) drove over to the parking lot and found out we weren't the only ones with the idea and there wasn't too much powder left in the middle area, but I drove to the edges and there was all this snow just asking me to slide through it and that is exactly what I did until I used it all up and I had nothing left to play with... =( I drove home hoping that it will snow a ton tonight so I can have lots of fun tomorrow. =)

Nursery
About a month ago Jacob and I were called in our ward to be assistant nursery leaders, but were never told what we were to do. Last Sunday (the 13th) we were asked if we could teach nursery the next Sunday (yesterday). Of course we said we would and that we did. I don't think I have ever felt so hopeless in my entire life as I did on Sunday in the nursery... We only had 4 kids in there, but we had no idea what we were doing! They had given us a schedule with play time, snack time, singing time, and lesson time on it but nothing else. I felt like they just fed us to the dogs (so to speak). Haha. We had no idea what the kids' names were, or even who their parents were! We were pretty much praying the entire time that the kids would be fine and that there would be no incidences. We went through the first hour happily, but as soon as that second hour started we had no idea it was going to be the longest hour of our lives! Without fail a couple of the kids wanted to play with the same toy and didn't want to share so I took the toy away. One of the kids was totally unphased that the toy was gone and just moved on to something else, but the other kid was NOT happy. He got really upset and started lashing out at the other kids so I picked him up and let him just sulk into my shoulder for a few minutes and then I got him to play on my lap with a different toy. Snack time ended with water all over the table and most likely the floor and one of the kids not wanting to have anything to do with us anymore and starting to cry. I picked him up and got him relaxed while Jacob was dealing with the other 3 kids and their needs. We then attempted to have singing time and a lesson, but it didn't turn out too well. I don't think I have ever been so happy to see parents than I did that day when they came to get their kids. Holy Hannah were we tired after that! Well, I'm off to go pray that I never have to go in there again! Haha.

Loves!
